Supplier Code of Conduct
This Supplier Code of Conduct establishes what James Kent Consolidated Ltd and its wholly owned subsidiaries: James Kent Ceramic Materials Ltd, Cera Dynamics Ltd, KMCI Ltd, P.E. Hines Ltd and Martin Colour Company Ltd, as part of the James Kent Group expect from its suppliers. This code of conduct relates to environment, human rights, business practices, employee relations, health and safety and other topics related to sustainable and responsible business practices. It forms the foundation of the James Kent Groups’ Sustainable Procurement policy and defines what customers, investors and stakeholders can expect from us and what we, in turn, expect from our suppliers.
Suppliers are independent entities, however, the James Kent Group expects that, wherever possible, suppliers will conduct business ethically and with integrity, providing assurance of adhering to our values and commitments to compliance. Any supplier who cannot provide these assurances should disclose the details of the circumstances to us before any trading takes place.
1. Labour and Human Rights
James Kent Group expects its employees, customers and suppliers to prevent violations of human rights. It prohibits the practice of forced and/or underage labour and expects suppliers to have appropriate systems in place to comply with the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015. Our latest statement and policy on Modern Slavery can be seen on our website.
James Kent Group endeavours to protect the physical and mental wellbeing of our employees, customers, suppliers and those affected by our operations. Employees should be provided with a safe working environment and receive appropriate training and resources to prevent accidents. Labour laws should be respected, with wages meeting minimum requirements and guidelines for working hours and working conditions in place. Employee records should be maintained, complying with national legislation. Workers should have equal opportunity and freedom of association and harassment and/or discrimination should not be tolerated. James Kent Group expects that suppliers should have appropriate whistleblowing and grievance procedures in place.
2. Ethics
Data should be stored and maintained in accordance with national data protection legislation. James Kent Group also expects suppliers to respect confidential information and intellectual property rights. All business should be conducted fairly and freely, with no conflicts of interest. James Kent Group adheres to the UK Bribery Act 2010 and suppliers should have appropriate anti-bribery and anti-corruption policies in place, complying with any national legislation. Suppliers should not offer bribes to a James Kent Group employee to obtain or retain business. Any gifts given should be given in goodwill, in accordance with legislation, and not to secure a business advantage. If a supplier becomes aware of any disruption in your business, industry, risks in the supply chain, or operations that could impact your obligations, please disclose the details of the circumstances to us.
3. Environment and Sustainability
James Kent Group endeavours to take a sustainable approach and encourages its employees, customers and suppliers to minimise any negative impacts on the environment where possible. James Kent Group expects that its suppliers will comply with applicable legislation and industry regulations. This includes but is not limited to monitoring emissions, conflict minerals, hazardous materials and waste disposal. James Kent Group is actively trying to reduce its emissions working towards Net Zero targets and would encourage suppliers to consider the environmental impacts of their products and services.
4. Review
This will be sent out to suppliers. All information will be stored on an ERP system and re-sent annually for three years until a completed or compatible document has been returned to us.
